Heimtextil 2019: A lively start to the new furnishing season gives hope for a good business year ahead

With record levels of exhibitors and an impressive range of innovative products as well as offers on top themes such as sustainability, contract business and healthy sleep, Heimtextil 2019 enjoyed a dynamic start to the new season for home and contract textiles.

The start of the trade fair season in the Northern Hemisphere, Heimtextil hosted 3025 exhibitors from 65 countries and 67,500 visitors this year. With interior design showing a "rediscovery" of textiles, there is abundant potential for wool products – sound-absorbing functional textiles for example. A focus on sleep and sustainability could also prove beneficial for wool businesses.

Standouts for us this year included made-in-Lithuania brand Flokati, which employs more than 30 wool enthusiasts to supply soft woollen products for the bedroom, including slippers and clothing for children. And IWTO member Marzotto charmed us with a sustainable homeware range. (Spoiler: they will also be at our Venice Congress in April).
