Consumer demand for health and wellness products is on the rise. With an ageing population in Western countries, an increase in birth rates in emerging countires, and a global focus on healthy and sustainable lifestyles, "wellthness" is a key and long-term trend – and one in which wool has a large part to play.
Wool has many natural properties that are proven to be beneficial for health, wellness and comfort. Wool products for example can offer UV protection, humidity control, high thermal resistance, breathability, sound reduction and toxic chemical absorption.
While many research studies have been developed over the past 40 years, the wool industry is committed to investing continuously into up-to-date scientific research to meet today’s requirements.
Recent research has been focusing for example on wool’s positive influence on:
- Moisture management
- Healing properties for improving atopic dermatitis
In addition, recent research makes clear that wool in not an allergen.
More work is being done as the wool industry continues to invest in further reasearch.
