2011-11-28
The IWTO staff along with a Chinese delegation comprising of Mdm Peng Yanli, President, CWTA, Ms. Shuqin Zhang, Assistant to Mdm Peng, CWTA and accompanied by Mr. Robert Wang, China Project Manager from AWTA, visited Yorkshire, UK to visit members of the British wool industry supply chain. The visit helped the Chinese delegation better understand the workings of the British wool industry and also facilitated industry networking between the two countries. The visit ranged between woollen and worsted mills producing apparel and furnishings fabrics and accessories( Abraham Moon & Sons Ltd, Bulmer & Lumb Group) to wool grading centres and warehouses ( British Wool Marketing Board), wool suppliers and merchants ( H. Dawson Sons & Co. Ltd.) wool scouring plants (Haworth Scouring Company) and a sheep farm ( Scaife Hall farm). The tour provided an excellent overview of the various stages of wool processing starting from the fibre stage to the finished product. We are thankful to Mr. John Lambert, Consultant to IWTO, for organising the tour.
