Official IWTO participation at FAO Workshop

Last week two IWTO representatives participated at a FAO high level Workshop at the FAO office in Budapest, which included the sheep and wool sector. During the workshops IWTO had discussions concerning the topics Life Cycle Analysis, raw material prices as well as the Discover Natural Fibre Initiative. Part of the workshop was also the creation of a FAO web-based wool network. Over the last years, IWTO and FAO have developed an intensive relationship working together closely on several projects such as the Year of Natural Fibres 2009. A good working relation towards FAO are the key for various IWTO Policy Projects, such as the Life Cycle Assessment, the Definition of Wool, projects in regard to Animal Welfare and others.
Emerging from the U.N. Year of Natural Fibres 2009 the Discover Natural Fibres Initiative supported by IWTO is a worldwide campaign to promote the use of natural fibres through education about their benefits both to the wearer as well as the environment as a whole.
