Organisational Chart

The IWTO structure is divided into a Supply Chain part and a Demand Chain part, covering the complete pipeline of the wool textile process. The Supply Chain Committees is analysing and permanently updating after the technical and commercial bases of the wool textile supply chain, the Demand Chain Committees are analysing and interpreting the different markets for wool. In the Supply meets Demand Zone (SMD) both parts are sharing and discussing their analyses and respectively providing the directions of the wool industry for both parts. The Market Intelligence Committee is supporting the Supply and the Demand side with permanent updates and analysis about world wide markets relevant to our industry.

 

Supply chain committees

Contracts & Specifications Committee: Considers any proposed changes to IWTO Regulations associated with wool measurement and trading and, in particular, reviews the IWTO Blue Book Arbitration and Standard Contracts to ensure they are relevant to current practice.

Directly linked to the Contracts & Specifications Committee is the

Technology & Standards Committee (Structure to be found under T&S Organisational Chart): Co-ordinates the submission and circulation of technical reports and maintains the IWTO technical standardisation process. The T&S Committee consists of three working groups and the Technology Forum:

Technology Forum

Directly linked to the Contracts & Specifications Committee is also the

Licensing Panel: IWTO Laboratory Licensing determines the circumstances under which IWTO Test Certificates may be issued. The Panel maintains a register of laboratories holding IWTO accreditation.

Commercial Suppliers Committee: A forum for growers, traders, early stage processors, spinners and weavers to discuss issues of mutual interest and/or concern. Also examines the commercial impact of any changes arising from technical meetings relating to test specifications and regulations.

Sustainability Committee: Rapidly growing in significance, this Committee monitors national and international environmental, animal welfare and sustainability regulations set by Government and determines the impact on the wool industry. Advises the IWTO Assembly on appropriate actions to promote the wool industry in relation to sustainability issues. 

The Sustainability Committee includes three working groups:

The upcoming IWTO Congress will be organised in New York, USA ( From 07-05-2012 to 09-05-2012 ).

Documents from prior Conferences can be obtained from the IWTO Secretariat in Brussels. 

Instructions for Authors

Authors may submit reports or submissions to any of the Technical or Commercial Committees. The technical groups that report directly to the Technology & Standards Committee are:

Reports and Submissions to these groups or Reports to the Commercial Technology Forum (directed by the Technology & Standards Committee) must be prepared in electronic format (Word for Office 97,2000 or Word 2003). To facilitate this, IWTO requires authors to download some document templates, which standardise the formating of documents and the file naming conventions that are to be used.  Instructions for installing these templates and instructions and facility to download the latest versions are provided via this page. Authors are cautioned to read the instructions carefully in order to ensure that they install the templates correctly and submit the finished documents appropriately.

Instruction for authors are sent by email from IWTO HQ to National committees about 10 weeks prior to the congress.

DEMAND CHAIN COMMITTEES

Technical Textiles: It bundles all know how, information and activities of technical textiles related to wool. This concerns especially the sectors of automotive, healthcare, apparel, aerospace, furnishings, toys and consumer products.

Retail Club: The IWTO - Retail Club is focusing on all activities on the level of marketing and retailing of wool products. The Club is responsible for the input and exchange of know how of the marketing and retail stage with the other levels of the wool pipeline.

Interior Textiles: The IWTO - Home Interiors is focusing on all activities on the level of marketing and retailing of all wool and wool-blend products related to the Home Interiors industry sector, such as carpets and home textiles. It represents the full supply chain of the sector with its specific matters. This Committee is also including the Craft and Handknitting Sectors.

 

OTHER COMMITTEES

Market Intelligence Committee: The Committee is providing, evaluating and analysing statistics and forecasts from and for wool and wool related industries. It is monitoring datas from all levels, such as growers, manufacturers, processors, retailers, and consumers.

Executive Committee (composed of the President, Senior Vice-President, Treasurer and three additional elected Members): Administers the affairs and operations of the International Wool Textile Organisation and oversees its daily management in accordance with the Directives of the Assembly and the policy guidelines established by the Heads of Delegation Council.

Heads of Delegation Council: makes recommendations to the Assembly concerning full membership status of National Committees, recommends to the Assembly the dates and locations of future Meetings and International Wool Congresses, and sets the annual budget. Council concerned with the operational aspects and financial control of the IWTO. Includes examination of the function of IWTO and the future directions of the organisation.

General Assembly which is our sovereign body. Being the governing body of IWTO at which all decisions from the various committees are ratified. It is the closing forum and provides a summary and overview of the Congress, including industry announcements.
