The IWTO World Wool Award Jury Meeting took
place in Brussels, on 27th February 2007. During the full-day meeting
the jury members discussed the strong and weak points of presented
projects. They have pointed out unanimously that, although the majority
of presented works, especially in the category Fashion & Design was on a
high professional level, we still have to find a way to put wool and
fashion together more prominently. It is also necessary to keep
innovation in the wool branch and work on the image of wool.

For the Wool Award 2007 very
interesting presentations have been sent in in regards to the 3
categories. An important factor is that through innovations and
brilliant ideas the demand for PNW products can be influenced
strongly. Naturally the category "Fashion & Design" had the most
transmittals. A most gratifying development is that also in the
categories "Concept & Innovation" and "Marketing &
Promotion" were represented very well. I am convinced that the
competent Jury has awarded the right winners. |

This year the
World Award Jury Meeting was again prepared in an excellent way.
The choice of the works to be evaluated was perfectly defined. The
Jury Members coming from various backgrounds and having different
points of view discussed the projects intensively and
constructively. However, finally we could unanimously agree on the
winners. |

It was very
amazing to see how the participants, mainly students and young
designers, of all categories, representing apparel and interior
have interpreted the natural fibre WOOL, knowing perfectly the
properties of the fibre. Additionally to the creativity it was
also very encouraging to see the professionalism of how the
concepts have been prepared. For me it was also very stimulating
for the Wool Trend presentation to collaborate with yarn,- and
Fabric Designers.

The motivation of the participants was a very positive surprise
for us. We have seen astonishingly good presentations with
international standards. It was difficult for us to select the
winners because of the immense creativity of all participants. We
saw a lot of innovative ideas to use wool in different ranges of
products. It was great to be present in the jury.

As traders and
early stage processors we are quite far away from the apparel
design world. To be a member of the WWA was a great opportunity
for me to share ideas and the passion of wool with experienced
researchers, weavers, marketers and designers.
I was impressed by the great work of the participants. I wish them
all the best for the future and hope they keep WOOL in mind for
ever. |

Prof. Jutta Wiedemann, Hochschule Niederrhein The
World Wool Award Jury Meeting had been surprising in different
ways: the creativity of so many young designers coming from all
over the world, and their love, they've put into their products.
Sometimes they almost forgot to present themselves in an
equivalent manner. Also impressive was the constructive way of
the jury members in our discussion about the winner and the
wool. |
