INTRODUCTION
The purpose of International Wool Textile Organisation (IWTO) is to
position and to value wool clearly in the consumer's mind as a material,
which is desirable for its technical, ethical and comfortable values. To
realise that IWTO wants to promote and support education in the textile
sector as well as increase awareness of the unique properties of wool
and wool blend products around the world by targeting selected textiles/
technical textiles/fashion/apparel/design universities, academies and
schools and industry companies.
PROJECT
The World Wool Award is to be the worldwide event arousing international
interest, able to celebrate wool, its charm and its future use in
products/markets, especially leading to research and innovation. The
projects that will be awarded by IWTO should deal with matters of the
wool sector, its fashion, marketing or innovation. A professional Jury
with journalists, retailers, and entrepreneurs will evaluate the
projects.
APPLICANTS
The competition is open to young people between the age of 18 and 35
years. Students, trainees and young professionals from textile/fashion
universities, academies and schools, companies and institutes all over
the world are kindly invited to take part in this event.
CATEGORIES
There are three areas for which awards will be given:
Fashion & Design
Participants are requested to present a project showing a technical and
fashion design outlook on wool and wool blends, paying particular
attention to innovation that could be easily applied to industry.
Marketing & Promotion
Participants are requested to submit a marketing or promotion project
concerning wool and wool blends identifying how the project is able to
market and promote the sales and the use of wool in apparel, carpets or
any other area, either in the sector of business to business relation or
business to consumer relation.
Concept, Innovation & Extension
Participants are requested to submit a communication project concerning
wool and wool blends identifying how the project is able to transmit
wool's values and expressiveness, paying particular attention to the
industry's needs.
CONDITIONS
Each project has to be supported by a detailed text explaining and
highlighting the basic idea, its implementation and the potential
advantages for the final consumer and the commercial benefits for the
retailers, as well as the benefit to the wool industry. Each project
should be accompanied by a cd-rom with all project data.
PRIZE
The winners of the three categories will be granted:
1. Free participation to the IWTO Annual Wool Congress that is going to
be held in Hobart, Australia including travel costs, accommodation costs
and Congress Fee
2. A Winners Trophy and Diploma
3. A traineeship in a company of the wool industry in a wool growing
or
wool producing country of a winner's choice (optionally -
according to
availability)
4. A free of costs fully equipped stall at the exhibition area of the
IWTO Congress to show and promote the winner's project
5. During one year an international exposure via the IWTO website
6. Profit of contacts with worldwide media
APPLICATIONS
Application must include:
- CV with a photo
- Application form
- Abstract of the project (max. one page)
Note: applications are to be sent only in English language and
in duplicate.
All works are to be delivered to the IWTO Head Office in Brussels (see
address below) - IWTO will file all projects in their database.

- 31 October 2004 - deadline for registration (application form sent by
post, fax or e-mail). Official confirmation will be sent by the Head
Office immediately after receiving the application.
- 15 December 2004 - deadline for sending projects
- Mid February 2005 - the Final Jury Members Meeting
- End February 2005 - announcement of the World Wool Award Winners
- 18-23 April 2005 - IWTO Annual Congress in Hobart, Award Ceremony
- 19 April 2005 - World Wool Award Ceremony at the IWTO Annual
